From 18 June to 25 September 2022, artists Hannes Egger and Thomas Sterna have rented an exhibition space at KulturBahnhof Kassel and given other artists a chance to win a one-week presentation slot during documenta fifteen. Leaving the decision up to chance rather than a panel of experts, any artist, curator or exhibition organiser interested could enter the prize draw by simply purchasing a raffle ticket. The 13 winners, selected in a total of four draws, were then free to show their works without any requirements regarding content and/or aesthetic input. But not all winners decided to exhibit their own works: Some organised group exhibitions, others gave their slot away. The results varied greatly and were surprising, often breaking with conventional notions of art and standards of evaluation.
The project ended with a panel discussion in the ruruHaus at documenta fifteen with the curatorial team ruangrupa.

In the time of 29th July – 03rd August, Kulturbahnhof Kassel opens its doors to show the works of the artist Çağla Erdemir.
In the exhibition Ambiguous Identities Çağla Erdemir spans an entwined narrative about the question of identity. Having a deconstructive practice as her starting point, the artist opens up emotionally approachable spaces in her works, in which the private personal becomes public or even political.
To show the constructive composition of identities without denying their formative significance, Erdemir uses her paintings to merge boundaries, subvert responses and tie anchor points between the self and emotionally charged, traumatic experiences. Her evocative paintings satisfy with sensitivity and subtlety, while inviting visitors to position themselves in the stories bent by poetry and metaphorics.

Çağla Erdemir (b. 1997, Austria) works and lives as an art historian and artist between Berlin and Innsbruck.

The exhibition will be shown at the Kulturbahnhof Kassel from 29 July – 03 August 2022. Opening hours: 11-19 hrs.
The opening will take place on Friday, 29 July 2022, at 8.30 pm.
